Letter or Notice from Tax Authorities
I am an existing client and have received a letter/notice from the IRS or state tax authorities. Will you assist me, and will there be a fee for this service?
As tax laws and reporting requirements evolve, we are seeing an increase in notices from both the IRS and state tax authorities, especially if you have filed for an ITIN or other specific situations. Some notices are routine, while others may require more extensive attention.
If you receive such a notice, we are here to help you respond and resolve the issue.
When you receive the notice, please send us a copy of the entire notice (all pages) via email or fax as soon as possible. It is important that we review the actual notice before providing any advice. We recommend avoiding any attempts to explain the matter on the phone, as we prefer to assess the letter’s content directly rather than base our response on interpretations.
Once we have reviewed the notice, we will contact you to discuss the details and present a plan of action. The timeline depends on the complexity of the matter. Usually, once shared, we respond in a window of 48 hours.
Fees:
Yes, there is a fee for our services. During the tax filing process, we charge for the time spent preparing your tax returns. If the tax authorities issue a notice related to your case, additional time will be required to address it. Therefore, any time spent responding to the notice will be billed separately. Our hourly rate for these services is $250 per hour.
However, if you are enrolled in our Annual Tax Consulting Retainer program, most matters can be resolved without incurring an additional fee.
